Information

Sideboard | House of Finn Juhl

The simple and beautiful sideboard by Finn Juhl from 1955 combines exclusive wooden materials with the colors of the Goethe color wheel.
This sideboard is manufactured with a veneered exterior in teak, oak, walnut or Oregon pine and has sliding doors which are
available in teak, oak, walnut or Oregon pine veneer or painted in white and yellow or white and light blue.
The frame is available in polished steel or painted in black, orange or light blue.

The House of Finn Juhl Sideboard is optionally available with six drawers in warm or cool colours. When is chosen for
sliding doors in white and yellow, the drawers come in white, orange, shades of red and black.
When opting for sliding doors in the colors white and light blue, the drawers come in white, three shades of blue and black.

After Finn Juhl became famous in American design circles around 1950, he became increasingly inspired by his American colleagues,
especially Charles Eames. Until then, wood was mainly his favorite material, but gradually he also started to experiment with steel.
This newfound simplicity with clean lines became apparent in his designs of desks, dining tables, coffee tables, couches, sideboards and sofas.
in that period. These designs, with frames in which he combined polished steel and wood, were Finn Juhl's response to the criticism he'd received
on his artful sculptural designs and exclusivity.

Materials |
No concessions are possible with regard to the use of materials for the furniture by Finn Juhl. You can count on the best quality in fabrics,
leather and wood.
The House of Finn Juhl sideboard has a veneered exterior, treated with transparent oil and a solid wooden interior.
Originally Finn Juhl made the Sideboard in teak as it was often done in Denmark.
The wide verneer selection also consists of oak, walnut and pine from Oregon, United States.
The frame consists of a combination of polished or painted in black or color steel and wooden toes on the legs corresponding
the veneer.

Combining the Finn Juhl sideboard

Place the sideboard along a wall in the sitting area with, for example, a sofa from the Japan Series and the Grasshopper armchair.
A comfortable rug from the Circle Rug series and the refined 500 Table complete the atmosphere.
The Finn Juhl Sideboard is of course beautiful from any point of view. The back is nicely finished, so when used as a room divider,
for example next to the Nyhavn dining table with the 108 Chairs, this sideboard comes into its own.

Finn Juhl Organic Danish Design

The Danish modernist Finn Juhl may have been the designer with which organic forms are most visible in his furniture design.
Like other modernist pioneers, Juhl started from scratch with no role models or hereditary limitations.
He designed by measuring and analyzing his own body and how the individual parts of the chair should support the human body.
And unlike his contemporaries, with their streamlined, scaffold-like structures, Juhl strove for a more organic,
natural shape.
The potential strength of the wood was used to the maximum, just like it occurs during the natural growth process of a tree.
As Finn Juhl translated his ideas into bold, smooth joinery where every element of the design flows seamlessly into another,
he also set very high standards for the furniture makers who had to make the design.
The result is visible in beautifully refined, sculptural and iconic work that has been supplied exclusively by House of Finn Juhl
since its restart in 2001.
North Sea Design is an official dealer and has the Finn Juhl Pelican Chair, the Finn Juhl Sideboard
and the Finn Juhl 109 Chair in the showroom.
