The only known version of the Pelican Table was exhibited next to the Pelican Chair at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1940.
Both pieces are exceptional examples of Finn Juhl's spiritual friendship with modern art. However, the table was never put into production
and for a long time was only visible in a photo of the exhibition.
Nearly 75 years later, the Pelican Table appeared at auction in Paris and the precise design and dimensions of the table were finally possible
are determined.
This beautiful coffee table is the perfect match with the Pelican Chair and together they are exceptional examples of Finn Juhl's spiritual
relationship with modern art. The Pelican table also goes well with the Poet Sofa whose legs match.

The Pelican Table is made of solid oak treated with a transparent, dark oil, smoked oil or lacquered black.
Also available in solid walnut finished with oil.

Finn Juhl Organic Danish Design

The Danish modernist Finn Juhl may have been the designer with which organic forms are most visible in his furniture design.
Like other modernist pioneers, Juhl started from scratch with no role models or hereditary limitations.
He designed by measuring and analyzing his own body and how the individual parts of the chair should support the human body.
And unlike his contemporaries, with their streamlined, scaffold-like structures, Juhl strove for a more organic,
natural shape.
The potential strength of the wood was used to the maximum, just like it occurs during the natural growth process of a tree.
As Finn Juhl translated his ideas into bold, smooth joinery where every element of the design flows seamlessly into another,
he also set very high standards for the furniture makers who had to make the design.
The result is visible in beautifully refined, sculptural and iconic work that has been supplied exclusively by House of Finn Juhl
since its restart in 2001.
