When Marimekko founder Armi Ratia banned floral patterns, designer Maija Isola rebelled. Fascinated by the theme of flowers,
she created an entire collection of bold, pop‑art inspired floral designs.
Among them was the now‑legendary Unikko poppy
pattern from 1964, which has been in continuous production ever since.
