The seat is in our showroom in Rotterdam
Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1956. The CH20 is another great example of how Wegner was way ahead of his time when designing wooden furniture.
The CH20 was so complicated to make at that time with the given manufacturing techniques that only a single prototype was made. It was produced again for the first time in 2005. Awarded the ICFF Editors' Award in New York in 2005.
The unique seat base, seeming to float above the legs, is made from 11 ply laminate and provides exceptional stability without the usage of any crosspieces underneath. The characteristic rounded backrest, steam bend and crafted from 1 piece of solid wood, enables a variety of seating positions. It also allows for support for the arms (thereby the name, "The Elbow Chair") which increases the comfort and the ability to sit in the chair for a long time.
The CH20 can be stacked up to 4 at a time. Longterm stacking, however, is not recommended as it may result in deforming the upholstery over time. It is a light and space saving dining chair taking up little space around the dining table. The horizontal seat and lower back support also make the CH20 a great chair for usage as a desk chair. It is made from solid hardwood, hardwood laminate and cold foam, upholstered in the customer's choice of fabric or leather.
