J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik

In our shop full of Scandinavian design, conversations often quickly turn to the designers behind the beautiful chairs and tables. Niels Otto Møller and his legendary chair model 71 are mentioned in the same breath as all those other great Danish designers. That is why the products of J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik (JLM) should not be missing in our collection. Niels Otto Møller lived in Aarhus from 1920 to 1982 and was a Danish cabinetmaker and furniture architect.

N.O. Møller, as he is most often called, is among the crowd of Danish furniture architects referred to as "those who shaped the golden age of Danish furniture architecture". Other furniture architects from this time include Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen, Poul Kjærholm and Finn Juhl, but unlike them, Møller never studied at the School of Arts and Crafts or the Academy of Fine Arts. Instead, Møller trained as a cabinetmaker, receiving a journeyman certificate in 1939.
The underlying strength of the family business J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, is the proud tradition of classic craftsmanship.
Uncompromisingly: everything that is the next best has to go - because only the best quality is good enough. This principle applies across the board, from the raw wood selection to the finished piece of furniture.
The furniture is assembled in the factory in Aarhus, where its own workers are trained in the art of furniture making. For example, J.L. Møller for the continuity of the high quality.
In 1981 J.L. Møllers møbelfabrik The furniture prize of the Danish furniture industry. The motif for the award stated, among other things, that "J.L. Møller's furniture factory succeeds in the best way in combining the best craft traditions with modern craftsmanship in the production of modern furniture.
