The rich history of Vetrerio Vistosi from the province of Venice is at the base of beautiful lighting design.
In the seventeenth century the name Vistosi was connected to the members of the Murano glassmakers family. They were owner of the oven 'Al Bastian' which was already a century dedicated to the art of glass blowing, since 1640. In 1791 Giobatta Gazzabin Vistosi became head of the Art Glass Masters and the representative of the Murano glass masters products.
After a dark period in which glassware sales stood under pressure due to the fashion at that time, the plant seemed to go under. A change came at the end of the Second World War. Guglielmo Vistosi, heir Gazzabin, opened a new Murano oven and devoted himself to the production of lighting equipment.
In 1989 Murano entrepreneur Giancarlo Moretti Vistosi took over the brand and founded Vistosi Glass.
Vistosi is well known for the production of designs by leading contemporary designers of the Italian industrial design: think of the Alega by Vico Magistretti, the Poveglia by Gae Aulenti, the Vega by Michele de Lucchi, and the creations of Ettore Sottsass and Adalberto Dal Lago .
In 1967 Angelo Mangiarotti designed a series of modular glass hooks with no fixed structure, to which he gave the name of Giogali. From that moment on this design became a symbol of the Vistosi collection with which endless glass creations can be made. Giogali is used worldwide. Consider Bvulgari in Milan, Istanbul or London, New York Yankees steakhouse, business lounge at the Qatar airport. Vistosi's offers excellent opportunities to succeed each project.
Collaborations with the major designers worldwide have always played a central role at Vetreria Vistosi, which still keeps a special eye on them. The first age was the period of the partnerships with Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, Adalberto Dal Lago and many others. Now the time has come for working with new faces and young pens, and the company has gladly bet on them: Pio and Tito Toso, Emmanuel Babled and the office of the architects Romani & Saccani are only some of them.
