Information

Architectmade Wooden Dog Oscar

A timeless Scandinavian design icon from Architectmade, Oscar was created in 1953 by Danish architect Hans Bølling.
Crafted by hand from beech wood with leather details, Oscar embodies the charm, wit, and playfulness that define Bølling’s work.
With his expressive posture and warm personality, Oscar is a joyful companion that brings character to any interior

A Playful Classic

Designed with care and a sense of humour, Oscar represents a heartfelt tribute to man’s best friend.
His body is fully adjustable, allowing him to sit, beg, play, crawl, or strike any pose you like.
Whether displayed on a shelf, desk, or sideboard, Oscar adds a touch of Danish design heritage to your home.

Materials
• Beech wood
• Leather

Dimensions
• Oscar: W 6.5 × H 13 cm

Care Instructions

Wood is a natural, living material. Over time, exposure to sunlight or humidity may cause slight colour changes
as the wood’s moisture content shifts. To refresh the surface, gently sand with fine sandpaper (grain 220 or finer).
To maintain the dark glow of the eyes, apply beeswax balm or furniture wax with a cotton swab.

The Wooden Dog Family: Oscar, Bobby & Rufus

Oscar was the first of Bølling’s beloved wooden dogs. His “brothers,” Bobby and Rufus, soon followed—sharing
the same clean lines and technical precision, but in larger sizes.
Together, the trio forms a charming family of expressive wooden characters, each capturing the loyal spirit
of a real dog (without needing daily walks).

• Oscar & Rufus: Beech wood
• Bobby: Walnut wood
Their adjustable bodies allow endless poses, making them lively companions that brighten everyday life.

About Hans Bølling

Hans Bølling is celebrated for his playful, spirited approach to design.
Originally trained as an advertising designer, he later studied architecture, expanding his creative practice
to include villas, town halls, and living complexes. His career began with small wooden figures crafted
as gifts for friends and family—objects full of personality and precision.
Their popularity quickly grew, leading to the creation of his now‑iconic Duck and Ducklings in the 1950s.
Even today, Bølling remains closely connected to his designs, often visiting the Architectmade studio
with the same cheerful energy that inspired his early work.
